Michael Green
Principal

Michael Green co-founded Virtú Investments with Scott McWhorter in 1997. Along with Mr. McWhorter, he has built Virtú into an integrated and successful firm that has acquired more than 60 properties since its inception with a total asset value of more than $625 million, while offering its clients tremendous investment returns. Mr. Green's primary responsibilities include investor relations, strategic partner development, asset acquisitions, asset management, and portfolio management.

Previously, Mr. Green worked in an acquisitions role at Bay Apartment Communities, a prominent Bay Area REIT. Before joining Bay Apartment Communities, Mr. Green gained valuable hands-on asset management experience opening a regional office in Texas for a California based multi-family acquisition firm, and overseeing more than 30 properties encompassing 7,000 units. His previous experience includes asset management for a real estate company specializing in strategic planning for non-performing loans and REO properties for major banks and other financial institutions, including the RTC. Mr. Green graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a degree in Economics.


Scott McWhorter
Principal

Scott McWhorter co-founded Virtú Investments with Michael Green in 1997, when they acquired their first investment property in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. McWhorter has focused on the execution of complicated and unique transactions and the overall development of the firm. Mr. McWhorter's primary responsibilities include economic and market analysis, property acquisition and disposition strategy, investor and client relations, as well as transaction and financial oversight.

Prior to founding Virtú, Mr. McWhorter gained extensive transactional and analytical real estate experience while personally overseeing the acquisition of 35 properties for a California based multi-family acquisition firm. Mr. McWhorter's diverse entrepreneurial background includes acting as COO and eventually selling Premier Sports Marketing (industry leader in athletic facility advertising) to Viacom in 1999, as well as playing and coaching professional basketball in Europe, and acting as a financial advisor and player agent. Mr. McWhorter graduated from the University of San Francisco with degrees in both Accounting and Finance, and an emphasis in real estate.


Ritesh Patel
Chief Investment Officer

Ritesh Patel joined Virtú in November 2002 and is responsible for investor relations, as well as the successful acquisition and disposition of assets. This includes the thorough review of due diligence, the lending environment, real estate market dynamics, and the management of all related deadlines. He has headed the acquisition of 30 properties worth $450M, as well as the disposition of over 30 properties. Prior to joining Virtú, Mr. Patel conducted due diligence and market analysis for venture capital investments at Saffron Hill Ventures, following a number of years gaining diverse business experience at CSC Consulting. He holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA, as well as a BS in Industrial Engineering from UC Berkeley, and a BA in Management Engineering from Claremont McKenna College.


Blake Hayunga
Chief Operating Officer
Blake Hayunga joined Virtú Investments in September 2004 and is responsible for all property operations, as well as the development of systems to support Virtú's growth. This includes all personnel, asset management, due diligence and renovation oversight, and new technology adoption. Since joining Virtú, Mr. Hayunga has overseen a total of over 45 assets, including the implementation of 25 new property acquisitions representing $400 million in transaction volume. Prior to joining Virtú, Mr. Hayunga was Chief Executive Officer of TG Holdings, Inc., a privately held asset management company with a book value of over $600 million. While at TG Holdings, he provided oversight and direction for a diverse portfolio of investments, including large-scale master plan communities, land speculation projects, corporate office space, and early-stage venture investments. Mr. Hayunga also held the position of Chief Executive Officer for StreetFusion, Inc., a successful venture-backed Software Company. He holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from Colorado College.


David Carroll
Chief Financial Officer

David Carroll joined Virtú in July 2003 as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Carroll is responsible for all financial operations and partnership management, including the monthly and annual financial reporting and tax preparation for Virtú's entities. In addition, Mr. Carroll oversees all human resource-related needs, as well as property, liability, health, and worker's compensation insurance issues. Prior to joining Virtú, Mr. Carroll was a Director with the American Express Tax and Business Services. His main area of practice was real estate taxation and law, which he has been practicing since 1990. While at American Express, Virtú was a client of Mr. Carroll's. As such, he has been associated with the principles of Virtú for over ten years. Mr. Carroll is licensed in the state of California as a CPA and is a member of the AICPA. He graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Business Administration and Accountancy.
